Guide pricing
Campervan conversion costs: what to budget
There is no single price for a campervan conversion. What it costs depends on the scope of the work, the van you start with, the layout, the systems you want fitted and the level of finish you are after.
Rather than pretend every van costs the same, we publish guide prices for our conversion packages and for the individual jobs we fit most often. Use them to set a realistic budget, then talk to us and we will price your van and specification properly.
Full conversions
Conversion package starting prices
Our three conversion packages are starting points, not fixed menus. Each one is developed around how you intend to use the van. Read the detail on the Full Conversions page.
Tradition
from £10,500
The straightforward route into a properly converted campervan. The specification typically covers sound deadening, insulation and lining, a practical kitchen, a bed system and dependable leisure electrics.
Acclaim
from £16,250
Built for regular touring. It typically builds on the Tradition specification with a pop-top roof or enhanced sleeping arrangement, upgraded RIB or ROAM seating, diesel heating and greater leisure electrical capacity.
Distinction
from £22,500
For longer trips and more independence. It typically builds on the Acclaim specification with solar charging, expanded battery capacity, lithium and inverter options and upgraded finishes, specified around how the van will be used.
These are guide starting prices, and the specifications described are typical rather than fixed inclusions. Each package is a starting point that we adjust around your van, your layout and your budget — the full detail is on the Full Conversions page. Prices shown are a guide. Every van and specification is slightly different, so we'll confirm the price before work starts.

Where the money goes
What changes the price?
The van itself
Condition and body preparation make a real difference. Rust treatment, panel repairs, cleaning up previous work or removing an existing part-conversion all take time before the new build can start.
Pop-top roof
A roof is usually the single largest individual item in a conversion. The manufacturer, roof-bed type, canvas and colour coding all move the figure.
Bed and seating
A rock and roll bed, a RIB system and ROAM travel seating sit at very different price points, and the choice also affects the furniture around them.
Electrical and solar specification
Battery type and capacity, charging method, solar, inverters and monitoring are sized around what you actually need to run. Off-grid capability costs more than campsite use.
Kitchen and furniture
A compact pod, a slimline kitchen and a full furniture run take different amounts of material and time, and appliance choices vary widely.
Heating
A diesel heater with ducting, controls, fuel supply and a carbon monoxide alarm is a straightforward add for some layouts and more involved in others.
Upholstery and finish
Trim, lining, flooring, lighting and detailing are where two vans with the same equipment list can end up with quite different prices.
Complete conversion or standalone work
One job on an otherwise standard van is priced on its own. A complete conversion is priced as a programme of work, with the systems planned to fit together.
Two different things
Conversion only, or buying a completed van
A conversion quote covers the work and the specification on a van you already own, or one you are buying separately. Unless a vehicle sale is specifically listed, the price of the base vehicle is not included.
If you would rather buy something already finished, we also build completed campervans for sale. Those are advertised with the vehicle and the conversion priced together, along with any mechanical or third-party warranty supplied with that vehicle.
Common questions
Before you ask for a price
Can I book one job rather than a full conversion?
Yes. Many customers come to us for a single item — a pop-top roof, a window, a bed, a kitchen pod, insulation or an electrical upgrade — on a van we have never seen before. It is treated with the same planning and fitting standards as a complete build.
Are the guide prices fixed?
No. Prices shown on the site are a guide. Every van and specification is slightly different, so we confirm the price in writing before work starts.
Do you work on vans other than Volkswagen?
Yes. We work on campervans and panel vans of all makes and ages, with particular expertise in Volkswagen Transporters. Availability and fitment of individual products still depend on the exact vehicle.
Does a full conversion include a habitation check?
For full conversions, Potteries Camper Co arranges a habitation check before handover. It is carried out by a competent specialist subcontractor and covers the applicable habitation systems fitted to the van.
Where are you based?
We are based in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire. Please contact us before visiting — the registered office is a correspondence address only.
